Tips and guidelines

Whether we are picking up from you, arranging for transportation, or you have you own method of shipping to us, we would suggest you follow these guidelines for the following materials:

Fluorescent Lamps

Re-package in original boxes, approximately 35 per box. Don't over stuff.
Boxes should not overhang skids. For 8-foot lamps, securely nail 2 skids together.
Each layer should be laid crosswise to layer below. No more than 7 layers for a single stacked skid.
Shrink wrap skid to avoid having to seal box ends and to reduce pressure from banding.

High Intensity Lamps

Re-package in original boxes and shrink wrap on skids.
Gaylords can also be used. These should be stapled to skids before filling.

Dry Cell Batteries

Line 45 gallon drums with 4 mm thick plastic liners.
Place plastic on top of batteries, then seal lid.
Drums should be banded together and placed on skid.
(Small quantities may be shipped in any secure container.)

Lithium Batteries

6 volts and more must have contacts taped, or be individually bagged to avoid chances of accidental sparking.
Please call us for appropriate labeling requirements.
Drums and liners are available though us for a small charge.

Lead Acid, Potash, or Vented Nickel Cadmium Batteries

Stack 2 high only, with cardboard on the skid, and between layers. This helps to absorb any leakage, prevent shorting, and lessen freight damage.
Band batteries to hold them together, then shrink wrap and label with Class 8 stickers.
